Software for GP practices

GP practice software is the software around the GP information system (HIS) that handles phone calls, repeat prescriptions, call-back requests, note-taking and forms. Kantex builds that layer for GP practices: whatever comes in through the patient portal or by phone lands as a work list in the HIS; the consultation is summarised into a draft note the GP checks; forms for insurers and agencies are prepared.

Where GP practices lose time

The practice assistant spends an hour on the phone every morning dealing with repeat prescriptions, appointments and test results. Whatever comes in through the patient portal still has to be copied into the HIS. The GP types up the note after every consultation while the next patient waits. Replacing the HIS itself is not an option; what happens around it is.

  • Phone and patient portal as two separate entry points

Requests arrive by phone, email and through the patient portal, and are entered into the HIS and distributed by hand.

  • Writing notes during surgery hours

Every consultation needs a note in the HIS. Typing it costs minutes per consultation while the next patient waits.

  • Forms with the same details every time

Insurers, agencies and referrers ask for forms that largely contain the same patient details.

What the software needs to do

This is what we build first, around the record system you already use.

A work list in the HIS

Repeat prescriptions, appointment requests and questions through the patient portal end up as a work list in the HIS. Whatever meets fixed rules is ready for authorisation; the rest goes to the practice assistant with the context included.

A draft note after the consultation

With the patient’s consent, the consultation is summarised into a draft note in the structure the practice uses. The GP reads it, edits it and saves it.

Forms prepared

Forms are filled in ahead of time with known details, so the GP only needs to check and complete them.

Integration with your HIS

We connect to what Medicom, Promedico, MicroHIS or CGM Huisarts opens up, and to Zorgdomein for referrals. Where a vendor opens up nothing, we tell you in advance.

How we approach it

No big project up front: one working part first, then expand based on what it delivers.

How we work
  1. A review of your current records

In a free 30-minute introductory call we walk through an ordinary day in your practice: which package you use, what it opens up to other software and which part of the paperwork takes the most time.

  2. A first working step within weeks

We start with one part, such as an integration with your calendar or a draft report after each session, and get that working before we build further.

  3. Support and further development

After go-live we stay responsible for updates and for monitoring integrations and incidents, with agreed response times.

Frequently asked questions

Can’t find your question? Email sales@kantex.nl and we will reply within one working day.

Does this replace our HIS?

No. The HIS remains the record. Kantex builds the layer around it that sorts incoming requests, prepares notes and fills in forms. Everything the GP approves lands in the HIS as it does now.

Is Kantex Praktijk a medical device?

No. Kantex Praktijk supports the administration: summarising, sorting and preparing. It does not make diagnoses or medical decisions. The GP checks every draft before it is saved.

Does AI write the report into the record by itself?

No. AI turns a dictated or briefly typed note into a draft in the format of your record. The clinician reads it, edits it and saves it. That way the professional stays responsible for what is in the record, and it remains visible who approved which text.

What does it cost?

A first step, such as an integration between your records and your calendar or a draft report after each session, is up and running within a few weeks. The cost depends on the number of systems involved and on what your software vendor allows. After the introductory call you receive a defined scope, the expected lead time and the cost of support afterwards.

How does Kantex handle health data?

Health data falls under the strictest category of the GDPR (AVG in Dutch), and information security in Dutch healthcare follows NEN 7510, the national standard for it. Before we start, we record which data an application needs, where it is stored, who can access it and how that access is logged. Data stays within the EU, and AI only produces drafts that the clinician checks before anything goes into the record.
